Ok, let's compile suggestions and concerns with the timing and etiquette of how we do raids.
lets not call anyone out. Stick to ideas and concerns.

I like he idea below
Phase 1 - whales use 1 attack each. You should know who you are, but maybe cc can post a list of who is a whale and is not for p1. Also, communicate damage so we are not over killing and using whales wisely.
Phase 2 - everyone takes 1 attack. Go balls deep
Phase 3 - everyone takes 1 attack. Go balls deep
Phase 4 - everyone takes 1 attack. Go balls deep, and then STOP all attacks until 1 hour past guild reset time (8:30 eastern time) and then it is all out until she is dead
Everyone take screenshots of leaderboard after we enter p4 (or just those around you if you don't want to do the whole board.
Thoughts?

Does not matter to me whatever the decision, but my 2 cents is;
EVERYONE does have a chance, all raids are announced well in advance. I could not make it on to start until end of part 2 and into 3 ...no ones fault, just the way life works. I'm not gonna cry about it but I knew when it was scheduled and had my chance. Waiting around 2 hours after it is "mostly" finished is just really hard for me at least. I have 3 small kids and a wife... I need to get in and get out. I cannot devote anymore of my life to this "game" or I may not have the later and only visiting rights for the three :-)
I am not saying screw those who cannot get on when the raid is scheduled, I say let's come up with a limited number of attacks for everyone...we go, we finish and the we move on with our lives. Seems fair and simple for everyone, not sure how it could,be monitored of if monitoring would even be possible... Maybe just hope people go by the rules and go,from there... Anyway that I what i have to say.

Paar-
I think my suggestion solves your problem also. We go from start to p2 in about 10 min. P2-p4 in less than that. You could knock out all 3 attacks within 10 min probably and then move on. Don't worry about coming back at 8:30 time to get another 30k damage unless it is an easy option.
I'm in the same boat with paar and family, etc

A note to remember: this raid is 2 days long' not 2 hours...
If we are concerned with giving "everyone" a chance then how about we go with San's recommendation and then if the Rancor is not finished the following day by the same time (1730) , you open it up to anyone who wants to pad their score or attack again?
Just a thought, gives plenty of time for "everyone" to get on line and do their 4 attacks!

I like the idea of everyone getting one P4 attack out of the way right away, then giving the people who couldn't show up a chance to get on the board, whether that's 3 hours or whatever it is.
While we're talking about scheduling, I personally don't love the 5:30 Eastern start. Would probably prefer a little bit earlier.

I think the timing and waiting was a great idea to get everyone in the rythm of things. But 3 hours is a rather long time.
We need to balance the abuse of having an open waiting time that long and the consequences of missing the raid and not "getting on the board".
I feel everyone knows when the raids start. I feel that if a few miss the raid times once in a while it is not a huge deal. If this is an issue for people we should work on a better time for the raid. If that is an issue for people, then possible the people who cannot fit into a certain raid time should find another home.
I don't mean to sound harsh and I know it does. But something that might be taboo to post on here for Star Wars fans...

I am in favor of just doing one all out go at it.
However I am curious to know how many people if any get attacks in during the pause period. For example if that is allowing 10 players to get on the leaderboard then I'm all for the hold.
In my opinion there will always be a handful who try to sneak in that extra attack or something. It's a little difficult to communicate everything anyways since guild chat is a bit limited.

I am personally okay with how things are now, in particular the pause and wait period on p4.
The way that I see it, it gives the opportunity for everybody to toss their 1< amount of damage onto the board with minimal sacrifice to the rest of the guild. I personally don't think many people are doing "make or break" amounts of damage in p4 given how quickly the rancor chews through the toons. The people who it makes the most difference for are the ones who are as little as 20 minutes late, which could happen to any of us.
None of us contribute equally when it comes to daily activities, given we range from some pretty heavy hitting whales all the way down to completely free to play. That contribution is reflected from our personal guild currency reward(however flawed that or may not be).
But all of us contribute EQUALLY when it comes to Guild Bank Currency, and I think that buys us, at the very least, the bottom tier of rewards from the raid.
In my personal opinion, it does not bother me at all when the actual raid starts. It gets announced far enough in advance to be well informed and plan around it. So there's no excuse not to know that it is happening. But I think the pause/waiting period is imperative to make sure we all get to contribute, andearn some reward for efforts throughout the week. It acts as insurance against the unknown, bad luck, or unavoidable real-life events.
My humble two cents as a pretty low damage member, but I am really enjoying playing with you guys and I look forward to continuing to do so!

Ok. A few thoughts I've had in response to raid timing and attack order. The first thing is, I am fairly certain that if everyone launched a single phase 4 attack, the rancor would be dead. Full stop. Some players probably still wouldn't get an attack. The second thing is that the 530 pm EDT raid time was the latest I could schedule given the time zone problems of the European players we use. Any later and I basically have to ask them to find a new guild. Scheduling wise, it's easier to schedule earlier and have players log into the raid than to schedule after they can play and have them log in 8 hours later (or however long they sleep). I am open to suggestions of alternating our raid times (later on weekends for instance) but understand that your guild mates are part of the reason the time is what it is. The third thing is what I am currently proposing as the changes to our structure. The changes are as follows: - European players and players unable to make the phase 4 open attacks will be allowed a single attack in phase 4 within 15 minutes of us hitting that phase. - All damage will be screen shotted within 5 minutes of entering phase 4. This will be compared to screenshots taken right before phase 4 attacks open. Players who are not doing their singular attack to get on the leaderboard will be punished. - if this still proved problematic, all phase 4 attacks will be made the following day at 530 pm EDT (24 hours later). Again, screenshots will be used to enforce this.
The structure we have right now is far from perfect, but it allows us to maintain a fairly diverse roster and attempts to provide a neutral time for us to raid at.

I agree that we should try having the euros only take one attack during P4 before they go to bed, and those that haven't attacked up to that point is allowed only one as well, then this should limit the amount of damage done to the rancor and so it's fair for everybody. Screenshots should help with regulation but what exactly is the punishment? Like 3 warnings and your out? I don't know if the 24 hours stretch will help or cause even more trouble because that opens up an even larger timeframe for people to get antsy enough to attack.
Ironically, couple raids ago we were struggling to finish and now we're finishing too fast lol. If everybody is able to follow the rules we should be fine. Tough part is getting everyone on the same page though. I noticed about 20 members are not here with us still, that's a lot of people.

Couple of notes, and I'll be responding to what Beastmode brought up. The three hour pause (realistically more like two and a half) is there to attempt to accomodate players who cannot make optimal attacks during raid time. It's there to try to help people when real life gets in the way. The three hour period was actually based on our original heroic raid, we may shorten it to two hours if there is enough opinions in favor of shorter raids. The raid time is set to avoid any potential arena payout issues and to try to maximize attendance. As I've said, we may shift our raid times to alternating start times or we can discuss changing the days. I've attempted to push for a raid every two days to limit the effects of missing a raid on any individual player.
Regarding punishment, I think first infraction is a warning, and the second is the boot. Almost everything about the guild is easy going and laid back, the rules for raids are not difficult to abide by. The 24 hour stretched phase 4 is a more extreme measure that I do not wish to implement, but is more foolproof than the three hour method. It is an example of how we can more easily wrangle this into position if needed.
I understand that the competitive nature of raid rewards are a problem. If I could flatten our payout more, I would.

I think that sounds fair cookie. It's never going to be fair for everyone based on EA's stupid system. I like the time limit for the the euro players to get their one attack in for easy monitoring. As always we need to continuously tweak the battle plan to make it as fair as possible for everyone. Thanks for being willing and open to try and get it fair.

Did we decide on an official policy for the next raid? I'm not looking to make any infractions lol
